Background Summary

Suffolk County Council on behalf of the Stronger Communities Network funded the SuffolkEducation Business Partnership Ltd (EBP) £14,000 of grant to deliver a mentor training and recruitment project targeted to support pupils from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and white working boys.

The project ran from 1 May2011 – 30 April 2012. It supports the widerSuffolk focus for raising attainment in this group.

The aim of the project was to:

• Help pupils engage with school and learning

• Raise aspiration

• Develop wider skills that support learning

• Improve self esteem

• Lead to improved outcomes including exam results
