Suffolk EBP holds the STEM Ambassadors contract for Suffolk, ensuring all schools and colleges have access to a range of exciting and dynamic role models in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) careers. Ambassadors are individuals who are willing to give their time and energy free of charge to help inspire young people in STEM - they can do this in a variety of ways from illustrating specific careers or helping with classroom activities to assisting in extra-curricular activities such as clubs, challenges and competitions.
The STEM Ambassador contract is awarded by STEMNET. For more information, please refer to www.stemnet.org.uk.
STEM Ambassadors can be involved in a range of activities including:
- Supporting schools activities e.g. Science or Engineering clubs, awards and competitions
- Offering mentoring, careers guidance and positive role models
- Assisting with project working in the classroom
- Providing work based placements for teachers and young people
Briefings and support are available for all new ambassadors and all STEM Ambassadors are Criminal Record Bureau checked to the enhanced level.
