A mentor is an impartial, positive role model who provides both inspiration and encouragement. Mentoring broadens horizons and experience at 14-16 years, encourages positive learning and assists students in planning for the future. Sector specific industry mentors are employees from small, medium and large companies who are matched with students identified as individuals who would benefit from one to one sessions with a neutral adult. GCSE and Diploma students are matched with sector specific mentors. E-mentors: Suffolk EBP holds the e-mentoring Brightlinks Licence for Suffolk. Brightlinks offers online mentoring support to young people who wish to receive advice and guidance to help inform their education and career choices. This enables school and business coordinators to provide safe and secure E-mentoring opportunities for young people. Brightlinks has a huge online resource library with articles from career profiles, study tips, life advice but also offers information per subject. A mentee can also do online training, choosing from a wide range of courses or their mentor can recommend courses for them.
