An exciting new IT Ambassador scheme backed by BT will be commencing in September 2010.

Operating as part of the STEM Ambassador programme and aimed primarily at supporting
teachers and their students in secondary schools and colleges, the IT Ambassador scheme offers three ways for teachers to get high-quality support from industry experts.

1.
On-line mentor support for teachers - ask an industry expert. Aimed at teachers who have questions (big or little) that they would like to pose to those working in the telecoms and IT industry.

2.
On-line mentor support for students - based around a range of IT & Business curriculum related activities and project ideas. Project and assignment briefs are accompanied by teacher packs.

Mentoring is provided by BT's IT Ambassadors through an easy to use moderated webmail
platform. All Ambassadors hold an independently approved enhanced CRB clearance and have STEM Ambassador and e-mentor training.

An ideal way of supporting Diploma delivery.

3.
Access to volunteer resource developers - need a presentation on how the Internet Protocol works? An example of an IT project that has helped to streamline part of a business? P

Perhaps an insight into the workings of superfast broadband - Then challenge our IT ambassadors to come up with a video, Power Point deck or podcast, to help bring the topic to life.

The three strands above are not mutually exclusive and can be run in any combination to suit individual teachers and institutions. The scheme is likely to be relevant to IT related aspects of creative and media, business admin and finance as well as to the IT Diploma, EPQ and related qualifications, though IT related interest from outside of these areas would be welcome also.
