The Science and Engineering Ambassadors (SEAs) programme has changed its name to STEM Ambassadors.

The change of name reflects the true breadth of skills and careers that the programme represents, in and from STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

To accompany the new name there is a new visual identity, which reflects the way that the Ambassadors illuminate what they do, and why they do it, for   teachers and young people in schools and colleges.

STEMNET co-ordinates the Programme nationally and by 2011 aims to have 27,000 STEM role models who can bring the world of work to the classroom, shedding light on and demystifying science, technology, engineering and mathematical jobs and the impact that they have on our everyday lives.  The new name and identity will act as a springboard for the programme reaching this target.

In Suffolk the programme is managed by the Suffolk Education Business Partnership and we currently have over 150 Ambassadors from a wide and diverse variety of backgrounds working for both large and small employers across the county who are available to support teachers in schools and colleges.  Examples of support include helping to run science clubs, assisting teachers with organising and delivering STEM events, judging competitions, mentoring and giving careers talks.
